Spiral XP – Faith Electric
“Faith Electric” reads like a splice of two band names, Th’ Faith Healers and Bowery Electric, and Spiral XP play it exactly that way. One beat and one riff carry the whole song: a heavy bass-and-drums groove with organ sustain and sheets of guitar noise piled on top. What changes is who’s singing. Max takes the first half with a harsher, fiercer delivery circling cult worship and blind faith, then Lena takes over and pulls everything toward half-sleep, warm and lush, with echoed ba-ba-ba harmonies trailing behind her. Same ground, two completely different songs standing on it.
It’s from the “Blue Earth” EP, out October 16 on Den Tapes.
